2nd International Workshop on Wireless Green Networks
2nd International Workshop on Wireless Green Networks
01 Novembre 2011
01/11/2011 23:00 - 01/11/2011 23:00
Information   and   Communication   Technologies   (ICTs)   are   now   widely considered  by  developing  countries  as  the  motor  of  growth,  the  driver  of efficiency  and  effectiveness  and  the  tool  to  enhance  human  development.
The  interest  in  environmental  friendly  or  green  technologies  was  recently spurred  by  the  SMART  2020  report,  a  study  of  the  possible  effects  of information  and  communication  technology  on  global  carbon  emissions.
Although ICTs  contribution to the  global emissions is  and  will remain rather small  with  1.25%  in  2002  and  around  2.5%  in  2020,  the  general  trend  of  a yearly  10%  increase  in  ICT  related  carbon  emissions  is  alarming.  The objective  of  the  second  edition  of  the  International  Workshop  on  Wireless Green  Networks  (IW2GN),  organized  by  GREENTIC  network,  is  to  present the current achievements and state of the art in Green Networks field. It aims also  at  addressing  the  challenges  and  research  trends  for  the  short  and middle  terms.  This  2nd  edition  follows  the  successful  first  one  organized jointly  by  the  Alcatel-Lucent  chair  on  Flexible  Radio  and  SEE.
The  workshop  program  offers  keynote  talks  by  well-known  speakers  and covers a range of topics spanning from general trends and operator visions of wireless  green  networks  to  recent  results  and  achievements  from  the academic research communities. We are further pleased to present a panel discussion,   between   Moroccan   researchers,   major   ICT   companies   in Morocco  and  invited  experts,  on  the  role  of  green  ICT  in  creating  business opportunities for developing countries.
