Objectives
 |
Created in 1883 as the "Société Internationale des Electriciens", the see is officially recognized as being in the public interest. Its objective is to bring together in France the scientific community from the fields of electronics, telecommunications, data processing and associated domains, and propose a course of action enabling this community to :
Contribute to :
- its permanent growth on the scientific and technological level as well as its impact on other fields,
- the promotion of fields covered by the authorities and the general public
- the international recognition of French scientific and technological competence;
Encourage :
- the teaching of disciplines from these fields by all appropriate means including in particular, further education,
- relations with similar communities abroad,
- solidarity between members.
In the modern world, engineers, teachers and researchers have always had to ensure that they are permanently up to date with regard to developments in their own speciality and in connected specialist fields which they may be called upon to use. In addition to this, they have to communicate the results of their research and experiments, in the general interest of their colleagues.
The scientific and technological associations have always had the important task of helping to circulate knowledge in the field of their particular competence : in matters of electricity, electronics and telecommunications, this involves the Société de l'Electricité, de l'Electronique et des Technologies de l'Information et de la Communication (see). Through close links with major public services, universities and private industry, as well as with other comparable French and foreign associations, the see is able to offer its members numerous possibilities to exchange and meet amongst themselves.
