Le but de la soirée est de faire le point sur l'évolution actuelle du secteur électrique et la situation du marché de l'électricité aux Etats-Unis. L'exposé sera principalement orienté vers les récentes réformes et les mécanismes de marché relatifs aux réseaux et à la production.

« Dr. Hung-po Chao is Senior Technical Leader of Power Delivery and Markets at Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) and Consulting Professor at Stanford University. Dr. Chao is responsible for the Global Electricity Market Transformation Initiative at EPRI. For more than a decade, Dr. Chao has been actively engaged in the investigation of market design and restructuring policy, advising power companies, governments, and regulators in the U.S. and around the world. In particular, Dr. Chao has been active in the development and evaluation of innovative market designs for transmission rights, reserve markets, and capacity options markets. He has been instrumental in promoting the use of market simulation in support of an evolutionary approach to restructuring. Dr. Chao has published many papers, books and reports in this area, in particular, co-authoring Designing Competitive Electricity Markets (1998) and Review of the Current Status of Power Market Reforms in the United States and Europe (2002). Dr. Chao holds a B.S in Electrical Engineering from National Taiwan University and M.S. degrees in Statistics and Operations Research from Stanford University. He holds a Ph.D. in Operations Research and Economics (Minor) from Stanford University ».
